Try to get your license plate in at least one photo, so you can prove it is the same car as the one that was ticketed. You can print those and use them as evidence at your hearing, along with the affidavit. If possible, take photos as the person is inspecting your tint.Check your state's window tinting law to find out, or ask a traffic law attorney. Some states only allow inspections and certification of tint from specific individuals, such as licensed state inspectors or police officers. The 2023 Florida Tint Law requirements are for the front windshield to the AS-1 line and front side windows to have a 28 VLT or lighter.The affidavit should also explain how they inspected the tint and what authority they have to complete such an inspection. The person who inspects your tint should write a brief affidavit stating that they inspected your tint and found it met the requirements of the law.The easiest way to do this is to take your car to a state inspector, or to a police station or other tint specialist. So naturally when the dumb bitch told me I owed $40 instead of $30 I asked when inspections went up $10 and she said it’s because I have window tint. I always watch when untrusted shops are doing anything to my vehicles to make sure they are doing what they are being paid for and not trying to up charge me on some BS they caused. The state of North Carolina requires that every car with after factory tint is tested to ensure the percentage is within legal standards. I have never been charged anymore than the basic inspection fee since I’ve owned the truck. I have owned it for 17 years now which has dealer installed 35% tint on the driver and passenger windows. Side markers on the trailers can still be seen and if I need to back up I’ll just roll down the windows. Much better vision at night looking forward. Dim the dash lights and there’s no glare and the light pollution in the cab is almost none. 5% on the front sides and 5 over factory on the back. Non-reflective tinting is legal above the AS. Once they fail you, you cannot go to another inspection station. For the most part it’s a non issue unless the inspector is a by the book stickler.
